Info About Workshops

  • The Price Per Workshop is $11.50 Each workshop is 60 minutes long and will be conducted virtual on “Zoom”

  • Look at the Workshop Levels Guide to see where you fit. You probably won’t fit perfectly into any specific level, but you may see where you best fit. We advise bracketing your level and then considering workshops a level above or below the level where you feel you are the closest match. If you see something that sparks your interest, but it is a couple levels beyond where you are, you can still sign up and you may still take away a lot! Don’t let our levels guide completely dictate your schedule. But know that our instructors are doing their best to teach workshops geared toward the Workshop Levels Guide.

  • Each workshop has a size limit of 30 participants to ensure an experience as close to an in-person festival as possible. We have 37 instructors and 285 workshop offerings to help even MORE dulcimer players and accommodate a larger audience. There will be no shortage of excellent options.

  • MOST IMPORTANTLY: Keep your eyes open and make sure your workshops are not the same session number because that means they are at the same time!!! We want to accommodate everyone and mistakes happen, but please try to be as mindful as you can about the times of your workshops when registering.

  • Because class sizes are limited, have a backup plan or two prepared for each time-slot you wish to register for. Some workshops are expected to fill up fast.

  • Don’t sign up for a workshop if you know you will not be able to attend.

We have a handy worksheet to help you in planning your workshop schedule. You can locate this worksheet by clicking on the button below. This worksheet will save you a lot of time in planning your workshops and purchasing them. (Click on button below to access the selection sheet)

STEP 1 - TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

The 2023 Virtual Dulcimer Festival is a “virtual” event. We will be using ZOOM to connect participants and instructors for over 405 hours of music and learning around the globe. Please read through the technical requirements and check your internet speed below.

You will need a desktop computer, a laptop computer, or a mobile device with speakers, and connection to the Internet. Zoom says you need internet speed of at least 1.5 Mbps.  We believe your experience will be much better with at least 5 Mbps. For reference, high speed internet is 25 Mbps.

If you want to be able to interact with your instructor and have them see you, you will need a device with a microphone and camera. If you do not have a camera and microphone, you will still be able to watch and hear the sessions as well as type questions and comments into the written discussion. You can check your internet speed by clicking the button below!

ONLINE ORIENTATION

We want this event to be a success! Many of you have aleady used “Zoom” this past 18 months for online workshops but In order for this festival to happen, we need you to be ready to use ZOOM by November 21st. Below are a number of resources to help you prepare. Please take advantage of the support we have, and if necessary, visit Zoom.us for further support. We will have a help desk running throughout the workshops to assist, but please prepare in advance. Out of respect for all workshop participants, instructors are asked NOT be provide in-depth Zoom support during workshops, so it’s best to work out the kinks in advance by watching these tutorials and participating in the orientations test sessions.

With the large number of participants we expect, we will not be able to help everyone individually at the last minute.

**Refund Policy** Concert ticket sales are final and non-refundable.

Before registering for your workshops, it is your responsibility to make sure your classes do not have scheduling conflicts. Once you have registered, your order with NGFDA is final. You can always add more workshops at a later date if you’d like, but we will not process refunds if you suddenly change your mind or have a scheduling conflict.

If you accidentally make a huge mistake in your ordering process, let us know within 24 hours of placing your order and we can help you. Individual instructors are not responsible for your ordering mistakes and should not be contacted to resolve these types of issues. The NGFDA 4th Virtual Fall Dulcimer Festival is an effort to bring you an alternative way to connect with instructors and interact with dulcimer folks during the Coronavirus shutdown of festivals and workshops.

When you sign up and pay for workshops, your transactions are with the individual instructors. In the event you have technical trouble joining a workshop, all decisions concerning refunds will be made by the instructor for that workshop.

If you wish to know a particular instructor’s refund policy, you may contact that instructor directly. These are online workshops and the process has been transparent since before registration opened. You will need to use Zoom and you will need to have a computer or mobile device and a good internet connection that can support attending these virtual meetings.

You will need to be able to hear your instructors, so you will need working speakers or a telephone to call in. We have provided a stream of support including links to internet speed testers, video tutorials, phone calls. If something happens that prevents you from attending your workshops at this point, please consider these things, and consider the position it puts an instructor in when you ask for a refund. We are not entitled to approve or deny refunds on behalf of these musicians, but we do encourage you to take these things into consideration
